Welcome from Reverend Stella Campbell
and all at Skene Parish

Picture

We hope you find this website informative!
The Parish of Skene lies immediately to the west of the City of Aberdeen and takes in a growing community of Westhill along with the villages of Elrick, Garlogie, Kirkton of Skene and Lyne of Skene together with the farming community in the parish.
We have two church buildings - Skene Church, dating from 1801, in Kirkton of Skene - and Trinity Church in Westhill dating from 1981.
Please view our Parish Profile.
Our Sunday services are held at
10 a.m. in Trinity Church and 11.15 a.m. in Skene Church.
We have a wide variety of activities throughout the week as detailed on the pages of the website. Whether you are a member of the congregation, or live in the parish, or are visiting the area, you are welcome to join in our activities.

General Assembly
Closing Day...

Picture
For those wondering what the Assembly looks like - here are two pictures - one of the outside and one on the inside.  The most eagle eyes among you may spot Ann and myself in the gathering listening to the Archbishop of Cantebury!  Yesterday was the closing day and as with every day we had a combination of worship and business - both intertwined.  The business concerned the operational running of the church and considered property, staffing and safeguarding.  A sensitive debate regarding staffing was followed by prayer in which our moderator, Right Rev Albert Bogle, asked for God's blessing on staff.  In the afternoon, we remembered those who had died in the year, and we welcomed new folks (including myself) and we were powerfully reminded by Albert that our calling as a church is to a relay and not a sprint.  The theme of his moderatorial year is passing the faith on to the next generation and he reflected on Hebrews 12: 1-2 "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith."  Quite a challenge and a privilege.  The day ended with the tradition of clapping out the moderator and the Lord High Commissioner and then we went sent out - back to the various arts and parts of Scotland from whence we came.  Our hearts and souls refreshed and inspired.
