Skene Parish Church Guild
About Us
The Church of Scotland Guild is a movement within the Church of Scotland which invites and encourages both women and men to commit their lives to Jesus Christ and enables them to express their faith in worship, prayer and action. With around 15,000 members, the Guild is one of Scotland’s largest voluntary organisations.
The Guild’s motto, which is taken from Acts 27, verse 23: “Whose we are and Whom we serve”.
The aim of the Guild is to support the work of the Church, our Guild Projects and to create a warm and friendly atmosphere. The sharing of fellowship and friendship is an integral part of the Guild and we are pleased to say that Skene Guild enjoys a healthy membership who regularly attend meetings; we also have several fireside members. We extend a warm welcome to everyone, men as well as women, who wish to join our meetings and enjoy a cup of tea and a “fine piece”.
Thankfully, after a break because of Covid restrictions, we are now able to meet in person again.
Sessions normally run from October to May and meetings are held in Trinity Church, Westhill from 2.00 to 4.00 p.m. on the second Monday of the month. The Committee plan our syllabus around the current Guild Theme and Projects and we aim to invite speakers to reflect these topics together with a variety of issues both at home and abroad. We also have some musical interludes and our Christmas party is always a most enjoyable occasion. Other events we hold are our annual Summer Fayre, a summer outing, usually in June, and in November, a coffee morning to raise funds for the Guild Projects.
