Skene Kirk Session

The role of the Kirk Session, as part of the ministry and mission team of the congregation, is to help to provide spiritual leadership and pastoral care to the congregation.

The Kirk Session is made up of elected elders with nominations for new elders being made by members of the congregation.  The Elders' main duties is attendance at Kirk Session meetings and the pastoral care of their district that involved regular visits to the church members, normally twice a year when communion invitations are delivered (February and August).

A Moderator, normally the Minister, chairs the meetings of the Kirk Session.  In Skene there are over ninety Elders with a fifty/fifty split of women and men.  With the exception of January and July when there are no meetings, the Kirk Session tends to meet on the second Tuesday of every month with meetings alternating between Skene and Trinity Church.
